Our Philanthropic Efforts

Dear UVa Women's Club Members and Friends,

As we reflect on the UVa Women's Club's rich history and our ongoing commitment to community service, we are proud to highlight our enduring partnership with The UVa Maxine Platzer Lynn Women's Center. This collaboration embodies our dedication to empowering women and fostering positive change within our community.

The UVa Women's Club enjoys an ongoing relationship with The UVa Maxine Platzer Lynn Women's Center. The Center was established in 1989, and Maxine Platzer Lynn pledged an endowment in 2014. One of the most important programs is YWLP (Young Women's Leadership Program), which is a mentorship program pairing UVa students with Charlottesville Middle School girls. This program has been thriving for 25 years.

Other services include Counseling, Free Legal Clinic, Drop-in Use Spaces, Resource Navigators, and "A Room to Breathe" (furnished in part by the UVa Women's Club). We were so pleased by the announcement of the new director of the Women's Center, Chanel Craft Tanner, who will join the Center in June. She has spent much of her career in leadership roles at Emory University where she earned her PhD in Women's, Gender, and Sexuality studies. We also wish the former director, Abby Palko, our thanks and best wishes in her new endeavors.

We are also so proud that during our 75th Anniversary year of the UVa Women's Club (formerly the Faculty Wives Club), we raised $3,235.50 to support the Women's Center.
