A Legacy of Service and Support.
Dear UVA Woman’s Club Members and Friends,
The UVA Women’s Club is proud to have a long standing partnership with The UVA Maxine Platzer Lynn Women’s Center. The Center was established in 1989, and in 2014 it was named in honor of alumna Maxine Platzer Lynn following her generous endowment gift. The Center offers free counseling, a free legal clinic, a food pantry, study and meeting spaces and "A Room to Breathe.” This space was created thanks to a donation by the UVA Women’s Club and is a comfortable room where anyone in the UVA community can sit quietly and have some time alone. The Center also offers year-long scholarship programs that pair UVA students with a staff mentor and offers two community mentor programs - The Young Women Leaders Program (YWLP) and the Men’s Leadership Project (MLP). In these programs, undergraduate students serve as mentors to area middle school students.
During the 2025-2026 Club year, the UVA Women’s Club donated a total of $1,281 to the Women’s Center. We look forward to continuing our support of the UVA Maxine Platzer Lynn Women’s Center, and its dedication to empowering women and bringing about positive changes in our community.
